'An Infinite Landscape' paintings by Mia Funk‚ Fred Gruizinga‚ Roger McCarthy‚ Olivia O Carra & Louis O’Toole
The landscape is the ultimate work of art. And it is uniquely interpreted by every true artist‚ which reflects their creativity‚ enthusiasms and technical ability.
The paintings of the five artists in this exhibition are a good example.
These boats are not likely to have travelled far from their Dingle base – in terms of miles. But varying weathers can make coastal fishing trips very different experiences. If boats could talk … Mia Funk’s ‘Untold Voyages’ is well named …
Those who laboured in the bog in growing years remember the pain. Nothing like the warm glow in Roger McCarthy’s ‘Tea in the Bog’. But ‘Ballybunion’ evokes memories that were genuinely pleasurable.
A year without a trip to the ‘Skellig’ is not complete. The infinite colour range and variety of flora and fauna in the boggy and hilly shore line of the ‘Upper Lake’ is highlighted by Fred Gruzinga.
Olivia O’Carra’s ‘Weir at Derrycunnihy’ shows the same early Autumn mix of green and gold that might have been seen in 1861‚ the year of Queen Victoria’s visit. Some of the Royal party might have played golf – though it would not have been in ‘Killeen’.
Louis O’Toole’s ‘Waterfall’ might be on any of a number of Killarney mountain streams. Now gamboling pleasantly along. At other times a raging mass of white water ravishing mountain rock. The fissured single tree suitably reflects its age and the stately heritage of the rest of the ‘Yew Wood’.
